My child looks at me with a twinkling eye, asking, ‘Who will do my math homework today? Genie, elves, parents or I? If I do it myself, can I get some help to do it?’

Love, care, compassion and nurturing is what parents provide to their children to become beautiful human beings. Having been blessed with basic education and the resources to access the best education for children, parents endeavor to make appropriate choices about school, curriculum and courses. But does the effort stop here or is it a continuous process till your child is a senior? Most schools give homework for kids, but are they equipped to handle it on their own? Not always!

Apart from classroom studies, homework is an essential part of schooling and education. It gives a child tasks to accomplish at a pace based on his level of learning, to ponder on concepts which need more time and to revise what was taught at school. It also gives time for creative thinking and expression. Homework urges them discover solutions or identify problem areas in subjects like Math, Science and English. However, children can experience difficulty in understanding and concepts and that’s when they need homework help.

Often parents do try and pitch in, but may find it stressful because of the following reasons:

1)  Their jobs can be quite demanding which affects their energy and patience while engaging in homework for kids

2)  There could be time constraints because of traveling, jobs, household chores or other kids at home clamoring for attention

3)  Children’s routines and schedules may be different from those of their parents’

4)  Parents may lack subject knowledge and expertise in a particular subject

5)  Parents may find it difficult to explain, train or teach the child because training is a necessary skill to impart subject knowledge

6)  Parents may find it difficult to understand child psychology or lack pedagogy skills.

To be able to provide the best to their children parents often carry out internet searches for ready-made solutions for math homework with little or no success. This is because internet can provide a solution to Math problems, with just one question at a time, with little or no attention to the concept involved. That is why parents are now turning to hire tutors to provide attention and continuity in academics. Thus, eTutorworld as an organization is gaining popularity for providing world class education with online tutoring and homework help in K-12 Math, English and Science. 2) An improvement in grades is a natural outcome of regular and consistent practice

3) Children gradually become independent as they follow routines and are able to schedule classes for homework help and tutoring on their own

4) Clarity of difficult concepts becomes the basis of ability to understand higher concepts that would be introduced in higher school grades

5) Children get prepared for tests like SAT, PSAT and possibly do better than students with no exposure to professional online tutoring

Parents are primary caregivers and first teachers for their children. They are the foundation upon which our homes, neighbourhoods, societies, countries and indeed, the world are built upon. In recognition of this, the UN General Assembly in 2012, proclaimed June 1st every year as “Global Day of Parents”.

A parent’s task is no easy task. It’s a 24/7 job. This is especially true for parents of young children. Parents need to develop a connection with their kids, communicating to them all the time in every way possible. They have to provide for their offspring, and ensure that their progeny are off to the best possible start in their life. Various online parent portals give tips about how parents can bring out the best in their kids.

A typical day in the life of parents who have school-going children is like running a corporation. Mums or dads spend many a minute planning out the following day’s tasks meticulously. Right from the children’s brushing (among other hygiene activities!) to breakfast ideas and lunch options. Of course, there are other ‘incidental’ tasks like cooking, dressing up the kids, packing their lunch boxes, giving them pep-talks and of course, packing them off to school. Whew!

Most nights are spent ironing uniforms, keeping school books ready, checking breakfast ingredients and homework!

Nails and haircuts are to be regularly assessed and kept trim periodically. Lost pencils, erasers, sharpeners and geometry sets need to be replenished should the need arise. Late night requests for home-work help, test prep help and assistance to prep for a complicated exam need to be entertained with ‘yogic’ calm!

Evenings are usually reserved for preparing children’s snacks, balancing their studies, homework, playtime and maybe piano lessons or soccer practice!

Given the unobtrusive penetration by the omnipresent social media sources that exist today, parents also have to be on guard constantly. From predators, kidnappers, influencers, hatemongers online.

It’s common nowadays for both parents to work. They do this to ensure that their child has a strong foundation. A foundation that’s a springboard to a secure future. With rising expectations due to competition, supplementing their child’s education with tutoring is a rising trend. Smart parents usually hire a professional tutor who can ensure that their child is on the right track when it comes to academics.

To conclude, it’s safe to say that parents shape the future. This is why there needs to be a greater emphasis on creating better environments in each and every home. Parents need to be aware of the importance of this. History has shown us that cultures have risen or fallen purely on upbringing (or the lack of it). Great dynasties could only be made through generations of proper conditioning. Let us then doff our hats to all the parents who have given us this wonderful life. In more ways than one!

Children have a lot of work to do at school and the load can get tiring. In a classroom typically the student is a listener receiving inputs from a teacher. He/she needs to have time to process the information. Without understanding what is being taught correctly you will have trouble keeping pace and doing your homework.

There are incentives that teachers and parents keep giving a child to make him/her do homework. But what people forget is that to finish your homework you need to have understood the lessons that were taught to you in class. You might be behind the class as sustaining concentration throughout the day is a big challenge to any child or learner. Therefore there is a gap in your learning whenever you are behind class. Online tutoring can help you fill those gaps.

Before starting your homework focus on what you have missed out. Convey this gap to your tutor and he/she will be prepared to start from scratch if necessary and lead you to filling the gaps. You will then make up for lagging behind the classroom. The learner needs to understand that it is natural that he/she could not sustain attention. You just need to make up for the lost learning links. Your online tutor will help you go ahead of the class despite all the homework that you have to do. Then there is a question that confronts every young learner and that is ‘why should I do homework? What purpose does it serving considering the fact that I do class work as well?’ Homework reinforces the lessons that you have learnt in class. It helps you gain solid education. But this for any child is difficult to chew. The importance of homework has to be explained in a manner that is congenial to students.

It would be refreshing if you can do your homework in a quiet environment. Your intellect works in full earnest when you are left to think in solitude. Your online classes will guide you so that you look forward to doing your assignments in appreciation of the gift of your own private space. Remember that there are different reasons for having difficulty with homework. But whatever be the reasons your tutor is there to help you convert homework phobia into an absorbing activity. Think of all you can do to stay ahead of your class and your tutor will help you walk that extra mile. Pursue online tutoring to experience the difference!
